I love watercolor for its fluidity. I often work wet into wet as long as possible in order to maintain a sense of softness and unity throughout the piece. I then work back into the piece once it's dry to achieve sharp edges in select areas of focus.

The speed with which watercolor dries demands your constant attention, but as soon as you become rigid the work starts to fall apart. This tension between absolute focus and the relaxation necessary to do good work is some of the most fun you can have.
